The biographical docudrama tells the touching story of Nazarii Yaremchuk, Ukraine’s first music idol. Through personal diaries, memories of his loved ones, and archival footage, the film captures his deep love for his homeland and the beauty of the world. Despite Soviet censorship and ideological pressure, his radiant voice continued to shine against the backdrop of a fading empire.
"In the film, I wanted to show the story of a man whose music served others, who believed in the power of song, and who became a symbol of Ukrainian culture. His story reminds me of Forrest Gump — a person who not only witnessed but also actively took part in key events of his time, leaving his mark through his creativity", says the director Artem Hryhorian.
The premiere took place at the Mykolaichuk OPEN Audience Film Festival in Chernivtsi, as the closing night film (out of competition).
"Yaremchuk: Matchless World of Beauty" hit Ukrainian cinemas in August 2024 and became the highest-grossing documentary in Ukraine’s history (as of March 2025).
"Yaremchuk: Matchless World of Beauty" became the second film by KNIFE! Films to be released on Netflix Ukraine. The first one was "EPISODES: Ukraine at the World Cup", a documentary feature about Ukraine’s national team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
